The team of MAKE Creative Spaces designed and crafted the interactive technical scale model of a wastewater treatment system for CERTH.
The team of MAKE Creative Spaces designed and crafted the interactive technical scale model of a wastewater treatment system for Certh. The goal was to make an interactive scale model to explain the steps of the process. This innovative process uses mostly natural methods to filter and purify wastewater. Various digital manufacturing techniques were used on this project. These include CNC milling, 3D printing, laser cutting and carving. In addition, lots of manhours on designing, detailed modelling, assembling, painting and finishing were spent to complete this artifact. The technical scale model was enhanced with a multi-lined LED light circuit. This lights the steps of the filtering process as they appear with a gradual desaturation of the coloured resin running through the tubes. All of those line up to a control panel with 10 different push buttons that can be easily handled.
The model’s legend was UV printed on an acrylic sheet that stands on a 60 degree angle so it can be easily read. The final product had to be mobile so all the parts were designed to fit in a specific wheeled flightcase especially made for transportation.
